Our collaboration with Woodberg started in October 2020. Woodberg, a manufacturer of timber buildings, had successfully completed a few construction projects and needed our sparring to determine a common future direction.

We started working on the company’s ownership and corporate strategy with five owners in the fall of 2020, and the collaboration is still ongoing. Aleksi Niemeläinen, CEO of Woodberg, feels that the cooperation has opened up ideas and discussions among the owners and given concrete substance to what we are doing.

Woodberg as a company

Woodberg is an urban timber builder that has been producing sustainable, architecturally beautiful buildings for private individuals since 2017. The company started as a passion project shared by five friends alongside their day jobs. All the founders are entrepreneurs in their own different construction companies.

The collaboration with Aamu Partners started because Woodberg had reached a crossroads: after a few successful building projects, the owners had to decide whether to start doing Woodberg for more than just a hobby. They needed sparring and a process to make an informed decision about the company’s future.

We started with joint workshops with the entire ownership team, discussing Woodberg’s activities in a structured way. We guided and created processes to seek answers to the owners’ various strategic and operational questions.

Another important objective, in addition to clarifying the owners’ strategy, was to clarify the company’s strategy. We also sought to select the right areas for growth, making the best use of current resources. We also wanted to identify the financing options available that made the most sense for growth and to choose the right financial instruments.

Working with the Woodberg team has been great and we have genuinely enjoyed working together. We have managed to define a clear business story for Woodberg’s brilliant product and to summarize and write an exceptionally succinct ownership and business strategy. Working together has also brought the owners into the right conversations that have clarified a common direction for the company.
